Reading Lab

The Reading lab is designed to improve students reading ability as addressed by the following six criteria from the Language program:

Phonemic Awareness and phonics

Word Recognition and spelling

Vocabulary and Morphology

          Grammar and usage

Listening and reading comprehension

           Speaking and writing

 

Students will take three benchmarks throughout the year.  The first will determine appropriate placement in the Reading lab, the second will measure progress at the first semester, and the third will measure overall progress and determine student placement for the following year, if necessary.

Throughout the year students will also complete classwork, homework, and assessments including tests and quizzes.

This is a P/NP (Progress/No Progress) course.  Students will receive one credit for successful completion of the course requirements.
