IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT FOR ALL CAMBRIDGE STUDENTS AND PARENTS:
Unfortunately, due to low enrollment and a new 4x4 block schedule in 2025-2026, Rutherford County schools and the SHS administration have decided to begin phasing out the Cambridge International Program.
NOTE: ALL PAST AND CURRENT ZONE WAIVERS FOR THE CAMBRIDGE PROGRAM WILL BE HONORED EVEN IF THE CAMBRIDGE COURSES DO NOT MAKE FOR THE 2024-2025 SCHOOL YEAR.
8th graders who accepted seats for the Cambridge International program will still be allowed to attend SHS on zone waiver and speak with our counselors to determine the next steps with regards to classes. Cambridge caliber students are encouraged to enroll in AP and Advanced Placement courses during 9th and 10th grade and follow an AP or Dual Enrollment pathway for grades 11 and 12.
If you turned down a seat for another program in favor of Cambridge and are no longer interested in attending SHS, please contact [email protected] for next steps.
Current SHS students grades 9-12:
- Tests will continue as scheduled.
- A meeting will be held during RTI next week (3-11 through 3-15) to discuss next steps.
- Students in grades 10-11 will be offered the opportunity to finish the AICE Diploma or switch to Dual Enrollment.
- Students in grade 9 will be offered the opportunity to finish the AICE Diploma, but cannot switch to dual until after grade 10.
- All students should have backup courses in mind should the Cambridge cohort not meet a minimum number of students
- Students in grades 10-11 will be offered the opportunity to finish the AICE Diploma or switch to Dual Enrollment.
