Hello parents and students,

For parents that are new or old to SHS with students with disabilities, I am your contact if you have any questions regarding your child's IEP, their classes, grades, etc.    As I have done in the past two years, all IEP meetings will have an option of attending either in person, virtually using TEAMS, or joining by way of telephone.  I am able to hold meetings Monday-Friday with the earliest starting at 9:00 AM and the latest time to schedule will be 2:00 PM.  Hopefully this will be convenient for you and your work schedule.  Most meetings last 45 minutes to an hour for your planning purposes.  If you need to meet during your lunch break that is only 30 minutes, do not worry, we can make that work for you!

If your child is a transfer student from another county or state we must hold and IEP meeting within 30 days of student starting at SHS. It is very helpful if you have a copy of their previous IEP when you come to register your child.

I will contact you 3-4 weeks in advance to determine what day and time is convenient for you as well as which format you would like to attend.  If for some reason you are not able to attend we can hold the meeting with your permission.  If your child is due a re-evaluation for special education services which occurs every three years, these meetings will only be available Monday-Wednesday for which is when the school psychologist is here at SHS.  We will plan to hold the re-evaluation meeting and the IEP at the same time as to save you time from away from work.  Also if you have multiple children with IEPs we will plan to have those meetings back to back to once again save you time away from work.

If you need a translator do not worry, we will have one available at the meetings.  The translator will join us either virtually or by telephone.

When your child turns 18 they are a legal adult under Tennessee law and they are in charge of their own educational decisions.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me by email [email protected] or phone 615.904.3865 ext 23754 and I will respond as quickly as I can.  Do not hesitate to reach out if you have any concerns or questions.  These concerns and questions can be about the IEP or issues your child may be having at school.
