Digital Arts & Design II is a course that builds on the basic principles and the design process learned in the introductory Digital Arts & Design course. Upon completion of this course, proficient students will be able to perform advanced software operations to create photographs and illustrations of increasing complexity. Students will employ design principles and use industry software to create layouts for a variety of applications. Standards in this course also include an overview of art and design industries, career exploration, and business management. In addition, students will begin compiling artifacts for inclusion in a portfolio, which they will carry with them throughout the full sequence of courses in this program of study. Standards in this course are aligned with Tennessee State Standards for English Language Arts & Literacy in Technical Subjects, Tennessee State Standards in Mathematics, Tennessee Visual Art standards, and Tennessee Art History standards.*

Notes from Mr. "P".
Now that you have successfully completed the first year these are some of the projects and activities you can expect in the second year.
  • Intermediate Design Projects - We will do a lot of the same type of projects, but now we will be working at a higher level with more complex design concepts.
  • Intermediate Illustration - After spending a full year doing basic illustrations, you will now start developing more complex illustrations, including 3-D and how the look of an illustration will change when applied to a 3 dimensional object.
  • Intermediate Photography - Now that we have a good basic understanding of camera operation and lighting, lets start looking at some more advanced settings and techniques.  We will spend more time in the studio with multiple light setups, colored gels and some very artistic effects.
  • Intermediate Photo Retouching/Manipulation - Taking those basic Photoshop skills and learning the intermediate ones will allow us to do some pretty amazing things to the most mundane photograph.  But the same applies as before, "we always strive to get the best image possible from the camera".
  • Basic 3-D - At this point everyone should be getting really good at two dimensional art, so let try some three dimensional.  We will start out with basic recognizable item and advance to more complex objects.
