National Honor Society

The National Honor Society is a nationally recognized organization that values Scholarship, Leadership, Community, and Service. The Smyrna High Chapter distributes invitations during the Fall semester to juniors and seniors who meet the qualifying requirements.

You can email Mrs. Bennett (Room 75) or Mrs. Leavens (Room 76) with any questions.
To qualify for NHS, students must be a junior or a senior with a 3.6 GPA or higher.  Qualifying students will be invited to apply and should attend the informational meeting. The application for NHS asks students to elaborate on their involvement in school activities, volunteer opportunities, and even out-of-school jobs.  There are also places to enumerate awards received and leadership positions as well as a personal essay section.  Applications are reviewed by the Faculty Council and those students who meet the qualifying limits in all sections will be invited to join.
National Honor Society participates in school-wide activities like Homecoming Carnival, where we sponsor the dunking booth.  We do fundraising a couple of times a year to help cover club costs.  We take one or two field trips a year for team building.  NHS members can be counted on to volunteer to help a school events like Freshman Orientation and stadium clean-ups.
