Welcome to SHS and our School Health Office. I am Nurse Tracy Sissom. I graduated from Middle Tennessee State University in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. My professional practice areas include hospital-based Critical and Special Care Units, Cardiac Care, Post Anesthesia Care, and Public School Nursing since 2005. I joined Rutherford County Schools (RCS) in 2011 and have been with Smyrna High School (SHS) since that time.
Currently, I serve as the SHS First Responders Team Leader and the SHS Crisis Response Medical Team Leader. In addition, I am certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), trained in STOP THE BLEED, and serve as an American Heart Association CPR, AED and First Aid Instructor. I am proud to announce SHS has been a Project Adam Heart Safe School since 2018 by establishing an emergency response plan with our staff and students that includes CPR and AED training with EMS activation for sudden cardiac arrest on our school campus.
Please feel to reach out via the contact information below. Email is often the best way to reach me. Know I will respond as quickly as possible and no later than the end of the current scheduled nurse work day. Feel free to have your physicians office, or you personally, email or fax any current health forms, updated TN Immunization Certificates, or recent physicals to SHS attention School Nurse. Please note, all medical forms are required to be updated ANNUALLY and can not be carried over to another school year. If you need updated forms, please see the Medical Forms link to the right.
